35 Basketballs explores the enduring presence of the basketball as both cultural icon and formal object, drawing on a lineage that includes Jeff Koons’s celebrated appropriations. Rooted in the tradition of the readymade —first articulated by Marcel Duchamp— the work recontextualises the basketball as both image and object—familiar yet newly considered.

Arranged in a structured grid, the composition balances repetition with subtle variation, allowing each form to exist both independently and as part of a larger visual rhythm. Rendered in a shifting spectrum of colour, the work emphasises the sculptural qualities of the basketball—its symmetry, curvature, and graphic immediacy—while gently disrupting uniformity through the artist’s hand.

Framing Information
